What is jute fiber ?

Small history of this ancient fiber

Jute is one of the oldest textile fibers in history.

Favored since ancient times for its ability to thrive in the humid climates of India, it was initially an integral part of the culture of Bengal and Bangladesh.
From the 17th century, the British began trading jute, which was used in the armed forces especially to make the famous “trench sacks”(more than one billion jute sacks were exported from Bengal to the European trenches during World War I!).
They were also used in the United States as bags for picking cotton.
Other uses of jute fiber
Jute can be used to create yarns, fabrics, nets, jute bags, and jute sacks; it is used in the clothing field to make belts, hats, and bags; and in the furniture field to create rugs or rustic room coverings.
It is one of the most versatile natural fibers, its characteristic is its biodegradability, it has allowed its use in new fields, where it would not have been possible to use synthetic materials.
This textile fiber is obtained from plants belonging to the Malvaceae family-Corchorus Capsularis and Corchorus Olitorius.
The plant can reach up to four meters in height and can have various colorations: white tending to yellowish, silver-gray, and various shades of brown.
